Hello friends. Yay, I managed to find some crafty time because it is raining !!
Many years ago, in the late 80s actually, one of my work colleagues arranged a "Colour me beautiful" consultation for a group of us. Basically a lady draped coloured scarves around our necks and told us what colours suited our skin tone/hair colour best. I was an Autumn/Winter and still stick to certain colours to this day. Anyway, that is why I was drawn to the latest challenge at Allsorts...the beautiful autumnal colours, and this is what I was inspired to make.

It's a very old stamp that, I think, came in a collection from QVC when Dawn Bibby first started presenting...yes, I am that old!! I heat embossed it using black shiny powder and used Aquamarkers to paint in the detail. It looked a bit flat on a plain card mat so I used a hessian effect embossing folder for a bit of texture. Ta-dah!! Not a cute image or patterned paper in sight!! The colours are much more vibrant in real life...I blame the weather!! Hope you like it.
That's all for now. See you soon xx

Hi sarah, your card is super gorgeous. Love it. My original education is that of a beautician (loooooong ago when I was young LOL) And one specialization you could add was that of a colour conculente so I draped coloured scarves around my clients too. Hugs Veerle xx
ReplyDeleteHi Sarah,
ReplyDeleteSnap I have put a poppies card on my blog tonight too.
Your card is gorgeous, and the design is wonderful.
Love that stamp, and the hessian background.
Lots of crafty love. Jenny L.
This is so soft and pretty Sarah and I love the hessian embossing in the background. I had one of those colour consultations once and I must look out the wallet with the colours in again. Thanks for your tip about the pencils. I just used the pencils on my image but I am on the lookout for some paper stumps and blending solution to try.
ReplyDeleteLove poppies and use them a lot. Gorgeous card and love the backing of the hessian. Hugs, Carol S.xx
ReplyDeleteA fabulous card Sarah, such a pretty stamp.
ReplyDeleteI went to a Colour Me Beautiful consultation as well - we're really showing our age now. I came out as a winter and like you I still stick to the colours!

Your Poppies look beautiful Sarah and I like the background that you've used for them too. Dawn Bibby was on QVC when I first started stamping. She was the first person I saw using heat embossing and I remember being mesmerised by it. I suppose I still am really as I never tire of watching the magic happen! Crafty hugs, Sandra x
