Tea anyone?

I was asked by one of my regular customers to make a Birthday card for her Sister. I am still rummaging in my stash and decided to use one of the free downloads from Making Cards.

This ties in rather nicely with the new challenge at

Which is buttons or ribbon  (remember to tell us why)

My "go to" finishing touch is definitely ribbon. When seam binding first became fashionable I think I bought every available colour and still have masses in my vast collection. It's so easy to tie into a perfect bow and always looks amazing. These days though I buy white and colour with alcohol markers as necessary!!

It is much larger than I would usually make (A5) so I filled it out a bit with complimentary coloured mats and cut a doily using my Gemini. The sentiments were stamped using stamps from a couple of free sets, so a freebie all round, except for the seam binding.

We are still without rain in our part of the UK. I am actually missing mowing my lawn  now and all  Bowie and Bumble's favourite streams, except one, have dried up. They do have a paddling pool but won't use it so it is becoming very useful for me on extremely hot days!! It has been a little cooler the last couple of mornings so Surprise and I enjoyed an hour out and about yesterday. Looks like it's hotting up again at the weekend though.
Have a good one when you get there xx

  1. I’ll have a cup of tea any time Sarah, especially out of a cup that’s this pretty. The colours are gorgeous and the pink and mint green work so well together, it’s a beautiful card. Crafty hugs, Sandra x

  2. What a lovely feminine creation Sarah and such a good idea with the glossy accents/glitter around the rims.

It's 40 days withet rain here and so, so, dry with huge cracks opening up in the lawn and paddocks. And the hay harvest is alreay being fed to the boys, unheard of in recent years so early in the season.

  20. What a soft and pretty card Sarah, and that lovely teaset reminds me of my Grandma's china set. The sparkle at the cup rims was gilded on her set but otherwise, it's a dead ringer!! I could just fancy a macaroon.
The lack of rain continues near us too and we have a hosepipe ban starting next week.
    Have a good weekend.
    Hugs

Hope you and your critters are sticking the heat OK - we're not just so hot and have had a few showers. The grass is actually growing again, much nicer than a scorched lawn :)

  27. Hello Sarah: I was just checking the winner's post for the Double D Challenge and, when I saw your gorgeous card, I was immediately amazed and delighted with this lovely image of the tea cups, the sweet color combination and the beautiful pattern paper. You mentioned that you got a free download from a place called "Making Cards" so I was wondering if you could tell me which image is the one you used to create this amazing card.
Thank you in advance for this information and thank you also for sharing your beautiful card.
    Big Hugs,
    Maria Rodriguez.

  28. I only bought the white seam binding too, and colored with reinkers, distress inks, etc. It's very versatile, but I seldom think to use ribbons! Looks very pretty with these lovely porcelain cups and the delicate doily. I really like the tiny rosebud paper - looks so pretty with the aqua & pink colors. The silver sparkle on the teacups looks very 'posh' too! TFS
