Antiques

Hello everyone. In case you didn't know Squirrel is holding another of her fabulous Challenges and this time it's Antique Roadshow.
Like all of us I have long forgotten gems hidden beneath all the latest dies, stamp collections and assorted paraphernalia that we really don't need (cough splutter)!! So here is what I made using one of the very first stamps and die sets I ever bought together with a card design that I haven't crafted for absolutely ages.

The stamp is Bild Malarna Mimosa Chicken ( not sure why but feathered friends seem to be featuring a lot lately!!) I coloured her with pencils to compliment the  MME Fine and Dandy Girl paper. She was die cut using SB Labels 18

The side shot shows how the label holds the card up.
The white leaves were cut using Marianne LR0226. The pretty flowers are by Petaloo, the tag from an IO set and the sentiment from a Clearly Besotted sentiment set.
See, not a new item in sight!!

While on the subject of Ornithology, we had a super lunch out last Saturday and as we were waiting for our main course to arrive spotted a seagull furtively casing the joint, the cheeky devil then hopped onto the bench and devoured the crisps that had been left behind!!

Oh and while Surprise and I were out on Sunday morning I heard the cuckoo for the very first time, which always pleases me enormously as I know summer is on the way. Not so pleasing though is that I shall have to remember to keep the garage door closed so that the naughty cuckoo doesn't throw out another nest of house martin babies...nature can be cruel :0( ...actually so can I...bear with I am in a bit of a chatty mood today!! We used to have hanging baskets at the front door, however, several summers ago unbeknownst to me Mr & Mrs Blue Tit built a nest among the bedding plants and it was only by chance that I discovered it, one morning as I was watering, complete with seven eggs !! I was so worried that I had saturated them and that they wouldn't hatch but lo and behold they did, all seven. I had to let the flowers die though because I was terrified I would drown the babies!!  Needless to say we now have plants in troughs and the baskets are redundant!!

I'm off to link up at Squirrel's World and a few others!!
Addicted to Stamps #104 - Spring with Birds/Eggs
Allsorts #310 - More than two die cuts
Through the purple haze - Spring Colours

Hope Wednesday is good to you xx

Beautiful card, Sarah and I love that design! Great piccies too! I have 2 Red Kites in my life that seem to circle above me and my dogs when we are out on our walks! I’m hoping they don’t think my pooches are overgrown voles!!! xxx

Hi Sarah,
beautiful card today.
I love that image it's so sweet.
Your papers used are super as always.
Fab design as usual.
We have lots of Seagulls where I live, and they have nested on the roof of the flats near us before now.
The downside was they used to attack us grey haired peeps or if you wore white,
when their young were learning to fly.
Lots of crafty love. Jenny L.

Gorgeous photo! Ahh I'd do anything to be in that lovely sunshine having a nice lunch!! Gosh it's been so many years stuck in here I've forgotten what "normal" life is like!
That's for your lovely comment and I was going to ask if you had your blue knickers on hehehe!! Oh lingerie, yes, that's sounds far sexier ;-P

Gorgeous card Sarah. Love the image and beautiful papers. Seagulls are cheeky little devils. Don't see a lot of them here in Buxton (mostly ducks!!) but did see loads when I lived in Liverpool - Michelle x

So you are a cuckoo watcher as well Sarah, same here, goes right back to my childhood when Dad always recorded it in his diary along with so many other things that I now set store by, like peas have to be in the ground my 9th Match !

Our first sight or should I say hearing of the cuckoo this year was 25th April, two days earlier than last year, but then he seemed to go AWAL for a few days but is back in good voice now. But the swallows seem very late this year, they usually next in one of the stables but so far have only seen a couple, wonder if they have found better accommodation. Oh dear, I know I go do on please forgive me for rambling.

On to your card and it's such a pretty shape and lovely soft colour tones.

So beautiful Sarah!! I'm so glad you showed us the side view, I hadn't realized the top layer had that fancy shape, awesome!! I've never heard a cuckoo in real life, it was chickadees where I grew up, that song was how we knew summer was coming! hugs :)

Lovely card and a sweet image. It's great to dig out some oldies too! I've got a resident robin in my garden and he's been sitting on the canes next to me while I was digging the veg plots this weekend. He's so cheeky and literally inches from where I am. It's lovely to have them in the garden. I'm not so keen on the seagulls though. There are a lot where I live and they're a real pest.

Hello Sarah, love your card and the fantastic design.
Nature can be so cruel, we have to try and forget that, don't we ..... It's hard though. We have the Swallows back, as long as they don't build in our eves all will be fine.

Gorgeous card Sarah and I love the design and darling image. The birds love to collect the coconut liner from my hanging baskets to make their nests so I just let them and even replaced the liner last year so they could get more as I think they told their friends about it and sometimes have 5 or more birds at one time..so cute to watch.

luv CHRISSYxx.

Always love your chatty posts and the lovely pictures you share. So glad that you had sunny weather for your outing and then had a pleasant surprise on your morning ride with Surprise. I am loving the shaped edging on this pretty card. A really sweet image, beautifully colored as you always do. You combine the paper patterns so nicely to create such interest & dimension. But the way you did the die cut was just so very eye catching. TFS & Hugs. (Yes it was such a milestone to meet Darnell & Bonnie. They are both my heroes!)

Sorry I'm late to the party but as it was a warm sunny day I was out planting in the garden after a little retail therapy! Must have been engrossed as a sparrow hawk obviously hadn't seen me and landed on the roof nearby! The local small bird population soon broke me out of my spell with all the clamour!
Love the idea of using the old stamps, fab idea for your card shape and the little girl is so sweet. :)

An adorable image and card Sarah.
We don't have cuckoo's here just magpie's who haunt the rest of the bird population .xx

Fabulous card - love the pretty florals and the clever design with the label as the stand :-)

I enjoyed hearing about your bird encounters! We currently have a racing pigeon visiting our garden every day for the last 10 days or so! We have reported him but the owner hasn't contacted us so far...maybe he doesn't want it back since it clearly isn't very good at racing and is lost!

Big hugs, Kat xx
