Thursday fortnight has duly rolled around again and I am delighted to be here to shout about the latest challenge at
This time we would love to see a Non card project.
This time I have put my crochet hooks away, in favour of my skeins of cross stitch thread and aida. My crafty journey evolved via cross stitch actually. I used to buy American cross stitch magazines from an independent newsagent, probably 25 years ago, and made many samplers and such before branching out into stitched greeting cards which soon manifested into a papercrafting obsession!!

One of my lovely work colleagues has just left us in order to move closer to their family and I wanted to make her something to keep and display in her new home. This is the result...
Using a pattern from here (visit with an open mind...there are some "different" designs too!!) and colours from my own thread collection.
Jacqui was very pleased with it and assures me it will take pride of place in their new home, when they find one.
I am very much looking forward to seeing your non card projects.
Until next time xx

Must admit it was how I started cardmaking too! I found a whole stash of finished work, xstitch, blackwork as well as freehand landscapes, in a box I'd packed away before we moved 5 years ago and forgot all about!
Your clean and simple sentiment looks fab. :)
Wow how familiar your crafting journey sounds to me as cross-stitch is exactly how I started before I became hooked on all this paper and pens malarkey!
This is really beautiful, Sarah and inspires me to seek out my long abandoned projects! xxx
Beautiful work Sarah. Cross stitch is how I started out also, all the way in 1995 lol. This is going to look lovely in your Colleague's home. I'm wondering now if I should enter my cross stitch that I finished not to long ago. Michelle x
A beautiful thoughtful gift Sarah
Hi Sarah, hope all is well, this is a beautiful project, so neat and clean looking, I love it!...xxx
I absolutely adore Home Sweet Home cross stitching, it's timeless and fits perfectly anywhere. You've done a beautiful job Sarah and if I was your work colleague I'd be delighted to receive this as a gift, it's so special x
A very pretty project. I bet your friend loved it

I have crafted since I was a young child but got addicted to Cross stitch, but on linen, 28 years ago through a friend. I did continue with my paper crafting too. It's nice to know that your beautiful work will be treasured. Hugs, Carol S.xx
I started the same way too Sarah!! Gorgeous gift and I've been a bag bloggererer but frozen shoulder will not defrost!!! even after cortisone injection so finding it hard to craft and type! Hope you are okay huggles Sue xx
This is so pretty Sarah and looks so neat! x
Beautiful work Sarah, have never done cross stitch but love the look of it.x
Beautiful needlework Sarah and a lovely gesure for your work colleague. Being of a curious mind I took a peek at your link and they do some lovely designs and some really unusual ones. Years since I did any cross stitch but could be persuaded if my eyes are up to it - why I stopped really.

Beautiful needle work Sarah..I would not know where to start.. I have always admired cross stitch work but just didn't go there.
luv CHRISSYxx
What a fun new challenge theme! I'm such a card crafter, I'll have to think on this! Love what you've created. It's been an age since I did any cross stitching. That is a really lovely piece. Your colleague is sure to absolutely love this! I bet she was really touched to receive it. Fabulous 'non card' creation hun. Hugs, Wends xoxo
What a beautiful gift for your friend! I used to cross stitch too, my house is coming down with cross stitch projects - my eyes aren't just so sharp now and it's not enjoyable any more :(
Brilliant what a thoughtful project she will treasure this Love and hugs Caorle x
Wow that is a beautiful gift for a new home. I started cross stitching too then got into cards. It's amazing how many of us have. Such a personal and special piece. Love it. Hugs xx
I guess my paper crafting went backwards :-) I started scrapbooking, then onto card making and now onto stitching on cards as well :-) Your project is lovely and I bet it's going to have a place of honour in her home.
Have a great day.
Hugs,
Lena
Gorgeous cross stitching gift x
What a lovely gift, and how well you've made those little X-s. Your co-worker will appreciate this thoughtful handmade project to remind her of her old home, when she is settled into the new one. Xstitch was something I tried, long ago, never did very well. I bought some of the dies (Thanks Jennifer McGuire) to use some thread on a diecut that is made to look a bit like Aida. Not tried it yet! TFS & Hugs. (Tell Surprise I don't like the early morning dark either. Nor the early evening dark. We're still fairly light by 7:30pm...but next month the time changes - and I won't like that at all! )
You cracked me, and my hubby, up with your comment...ransom has been paid but now and again I will go into the CAS world... hugsxx
So beautiful Sarah...I too started out with cross stitch many years ago.
Wendy xx
Sarah, this is gorgeous! You've finished it off so beautifully. X stitch was one of my early obsessions also, I still have a few of my favorite books and patterns and good intentions to get them done one day.
A super cute card. Thank you for sharing with us at Crafty Creations Challenge. Marlene
What a thoughtful and lovely new home gift, Sarah! That's a lot of work and very personal! I used to cross-stitch, too, prolly 25 years ago and loved it. Now I don't have the eyes for it!! Hugs, Darnell
