It's not quite over yet!!

Hello my crafty buddies, for those of you back to work today (like me!!) I hope it was a good one, for those of you at home, I hope you had plenty of new things to play with!!

I still have a few Christmas things to share, these being some of them.

If you have been tolerating visiting me for a while you may remember that last year I made a door hanger (see it here) for Surprise to give to Sampson, the Grandson of one of my livery clients. This year I made bags of magic reindeer food and made a couple of extra for my Farrier's little ones too!! I happened to find the brilliant stamp set in my Mum's Craft shop, which meant I didn't have to trawl the net looking for a suitable sentiment!!

Off to play at these challenges

Together...the best gift for all

Festive Greetings my dear crafty friends and I hope you are well today. If not I wish you a speedy recovery.

Before I get off to work I thought I would share my final pre-Christmas card with you. It's another Cuddly Buddly DT card and this time I used "Sleepy Birds".

They were coloured with Promarkers (no change there then!!). The spotty paper was in my bits and pieces drawer so my little card will be suitable to take along to the Playground where I haven't played for a while as I seem to have been using whole pieces of paper lately. The ribbon is by Crafty Ribbons from their Christmas Owl Collection and suited the kraft card perfectly. The sentiment came from a really fabulous (and much used) Personal Impressions set and was stamped onto a die cut tag.

First snowflakes....

.....no silly, not real ones!!

I'm not sure if I mentioned it before, but this year I have I have been teaching myself to crochet, with the help of  Stitch 'n'Bitch - it's a book!! Come November I had just about progressed from scarves, mobile phone holders and purses so thought I would make snowflake bunting to give as Christmas presents. After much effing and jeffing, and copious amounts of yarn I finally cracked it and managed to complete seven strings!!

Here is the one that is on my kitchen dresser

Better get my thinking cap on and decide what "alternative" to papercrafting I will have a go at next year. Saying that, I was looking for something the other day and discovered some aged cross stitch magazines, complete with unopened projects still attached (shame on me!!) so I may start with those.

For now I am off to play at these challenges

Allsorts Challenge #289 - White Christmas

Have a good Friday and a lovely weekend xx

Holly

Hope this finds you well this Thursday Morning. One week to go and I can hardly believe it. My mind is still in October!! Anyway that is certainly not the case so I'd better get a grip!!
I'm off into town today for some edible goodies for the "Christmas Cupboard" and a bottle or two of some festive spirit, but before that I am sharing my DT card for

and our theme this fortnight is Your favourite Christmas image and WHY?

I found myself using Holly, a Wee Stamps Digi. It's the first time she's been coloured up this year but I have showcased her before here and here.

She is a dream to colour and I was so pleased with myself this time that I am brave enough to share a close up shot too!! Promarkers compliment the pastel shades of the Nitwits papers.

Glamour Dust was used in outrageous amounts to achieve the necessary sparkle and I even unearthed some crystal stems and pearls. The perfectly coloured snowflake was in my "might use later" die cuts box and was a perfect mat for the sentiment.

I'm playing at these challenges

Father Christmas

Hello my friends and I hope this Monday finds you well and that your Christmas prep is under way. I have some CAS cards to share today that were made for some younger peeps.

Sadly the pictures are pretty pants and I hold the weather entirely responsible...but you get the gist!!

The digis are from Pink Petticoat and were coloured with Promarkers. I added different doodles around the edge of each and was really pleased with the overall look. Father Christmas is covered in red pee wee glitter, and so was my carpet for that matter, as I had a bit of a whoopsie as I was trying to get it back in the phial!!

These challenges are beckoning...

Wot no image!?

Ooh what a chilly day it's been, so chilly that the stable cat followed me back to the house this afternoon and sat outside the patio doors meowing at me. I let her in for a cuddle and then marched back down the field to give her more food in her barn.Think I may well have started something!! Apart from doing the horse today I have stayed in the warm, wrapped all the presents that I have bought (so far) and finished writing my cards, a couple of which  I am here to share. (I had forgotten making these!)

The Memory Box Grand Merry Christmas die came in handy again together with some Marianne snowflakes. You can see I used the sparkly ones set in the plain pearl card and vice versa. Both ribbons came from a local haberdashers and the dazzler from my stash.

I am entering these challenges

Fussy and Fancy #129 - Snowflakes & Ribbon

Noel

Hello my crafty friends and I hope this Wednesday finds you well. If not I hope you soon will be.

The Wills family now have a Christmas tree and associated festive adornments scattered about the house so I am pleased about that!! Not sure why I felt the need to impart that information but hey ho!! I have another Christmas card to share today using one of Cuddly Buddly Kim's images.
If you've not visited the shop lately go take a look. She now has "real" stamps as well as digis, Marianne Designs stuff by the bucket load and everything you could possibly wish for!!

I coloured the happy little family with Pro/Flexmarkers to match the "not Christmas" papers (scraps from my mountain!!) and used a bit or silver mirri for a contrast. I impressed myself by not reflecting a selfie in the die cut stars!!

I have found a "few" Christmas challenges to play along with

O' Christmas Tree

Hello peeps, another Monday!! Don't they roll around quickly?!!
Hope you had a good weekend and are raring to go for another week!!

So, today I am here to share my DT creation for the new challenge at

and what a great challenge it is too...Anything But A Card, Cute stylee!!

Here's mine

I used the cutest image, Ava Mistletoe, from one of our sponsors Bugaboo and coloured her with Promarkers. The Christmas tree was made using some rogue sheets of paper that I had printed previously and came across in my scraps box. It's really easy to do and if you'd like to have a go here is how I made it.

I had a play with scrap paper first to get the dimensions right and as I was using A4 sized paper these are the measurements.  All of the strips are 20cm in length and you need 2 x 5cm, 2 x 4.5cm, 2 x 4cm, 2 x 3.5cm, 2 x 3cm, 2 x 2.5cm and 1 x 2cm. I also punched 74 circles and glued 6 stacks of 10 together for the trunk and saved 14 to glue onto the finished rosettes, top and bottom.  Using a scoreboard score at 1cm intervals concertina each strip and join the pairs together ( I found it easier to join them once they are scored). Then join them end to end so that you have a zig zag circle. Gently flatten with the palm of your hand and have two pre glued circles (quick dry glue) ready to pop onto each side. I then used whatever I could find, acrylic blocks, glue pots and the like, to weigh each rosette down as they kept on springing back up (that caused a few obscenities I can tell you!!). Once dried, glue the rosettes with  the circle stacks between and that's it, a Christmas tree!! Ooh, I made the trunk/base with some brown cardstock rolled up, snipped and glued to two SB scalloped circle die cuts.

I printed and coloured Ava twice.I flipped one image so that I had a mirror image to stick back to back so that she would stand up and glued her to the top like a cute little fairy.

Phew, I hope my instructions are not too garbled, don't be afraid to shout if you decide to brave it and get confused along the way!!

A challenge or three...

Bright copper kettles

...and warm woollen mittens, brown paper packages tied up with strings, these are a few of my favourite things as my card demonstrates!!

It's my As You Like It Challenge DT card

and our theme this fortnight is Favourite Film or Song and WHY?

I love films so it wasn't an easy decision but one of my all time favourites has to be  The Sound Of Music and I pride myself on my  performance of Climb Every Mountain (the men and animals are NOT so keen!!).  However, my card was inspired by "My Favourite Things"

hence the "warm woollen mittens" which were a prize from Robyn's Fetish some time ago.
I used Promarkers to colour the mittens to compliment the Maja Design papers. I used Whitewash cardstock for the mat and a SB snowflake doused in peewee glitter. The sentiment was from a Woodware set and the die cut tag from a Clearly Besotted set.

A Christmas break

Hello my crafty buddies, I have a Birthday card to share today as I was itching to use a different colour scheme if I am honest!!

To start with I dug out my Boho Chic pad and made the layout using

Sketch Saturday #223

I then coloured little Pip (mine was a digi but you can get her in rubber now here) with Promarkers to match the pretty papers. I actually used different colour recipe for her face and was really pleased with the result, even though she did seem a bit "Tangoed" at first. (For my overseas friends...you won't have a clue what I am on about but it, essentially, means orange !!).

I am entering these challenges

Creating a scene

Hi there crafters, hope you are having an enjoyable weekend. I've been busily increasing the festive stock and this is one of them...

...using an adorable Digistamp Boutique image, Sleigh Fun, which I coloured with Pro/Flex markers and fussy cut before mounting on a round scene that I made using SB Classic Circles and Borderabilities. The sky was a snippet from my bit box and the embossed background was done with a Tattered Lace embossing folder Ditsy Dots.

CAS Christmas

Hello my crafty friends. Here comes another Christmas card!! I am enjoying Christmas card making enormously this year as I am making a concerted effort to try all sorts of different styles and designs. See what you think of today's offering it's my second DT make for Cuddly Buddly it's called Christmas House

At first I was tempted to go down the gingham/kraft homespun cottagey look but got sidetracked somewhat when I found red and purple cardstock together while looking for kraft and an idea was born!! I coloured with Promarkers and then went to town with stardust stickles, glamour dust and some flakey stuff from Creative Expressions that I used for the tinsel on the tree. Sadly the rubbish light does not show it in all it's glory, but trust me it sparkles!! The sentiment is from Clearly Besotted. A nice flat CAS card for the post and perfect for these challenges.

Any Reindeer?

No rain Dear, only frost!! Brrrr, mucking out was not fun this morning, I even got the old bobble hat out!! Too frosty for Surprise just yet so I'll pop back down in a bit before I go to work and let her out.

Anyway, I had a crafty marathon yesterday and put together lots of  4 inch cards. Here is batch #1

And an arty farty shot for a change!!

The images are from Pink Petticoat (Freebies with Dear Santa) and all four are on one sheet so they are dead easy to batch colour and then trim to size. Simple mats on red and black card to finish off and a smidgen of star dust and job done!!

I am supporting these fab challenges

Allsorts #286 - No Designer papers allowed
Winter Wonderland - Let's get Sentimental
Aud Sentiments #120 - Use a sentiment for any December Holiday

Must fly, but before I do this was the sunset last night from my work room...

Mobile home

Hello my crafty friends, I hope you are enjoying your weekend. I have grabbed myself some crafty time as Hubby is tucked up in bed ready for work in a few hours and the youngest Son has gone to watch the England v Samoa rugby at Twickenham so....lucky me!!

To take a break from seasonal cards I decided to make a New Home card  to suit a few current challenges.

I am really pleased with it although it nearly ended up in the bin on more than one occasion, I don't know what possessed me to make a scalloped frame for the aperture surrounding the sentiment. I should have just stamped onto a scalloped circle and put that on top!! Never one to take the easy route, that's me!! The adorable snail die ( a pressie from my lovely DT buddy Annette) had it's shell dressed up with a scrap of paper which I think may be Nitwits. Ribbon from my stash and the die cut border from MFT Blueprints 3.

Some challenges I am playing

Clear it Out Challenge - Anything Goes
Crafter's Cafe #91 - Anything Goes
Creative Fingers #57 - Anything Goes

Have a good evening, I intend to put mine to good use, trashy TV and putting some quick and easy cards together!! See you soon xx

Modern or traditional Christmas card style?................

..................that is the question at

As You Like It Challenge this fortnight.

A no brainer for me as I have such a huge array of cute and cuddly rubber, clear and digi stamps. In fact because I couldn't make a decision about which to use I ended up getting a couple more!! I decided upon a non-traditional colourway and used SN pencils to colour Lullaby to achieve the modern look in green and dark chocolate.

A challenge or two that I am evtering

Love to create #142 - Make it for Christmas
Crafty Catz #255 - Christmas is coming
Sweet Stampin' - To die for
Ruby's Rainbow #92 - Non-traditional colours
Crafty Creations #276 - 3 layers, 2 papers and 1 image

Thank you for your visit today, it's much appreciated xx

Tuesday 18 November 2014

Shake it!!

Hope your week has got off to a good start. The rain has finally stopped here in Dorset and I think we are set to have a few reasonable days which is good because I am on annual leave this week and will now be able to get some riding in!! Surprise has been delighted to have a break while the weather has been so horrid...I'm not ashamed to say that I am most definitely a fair weather rider these days!!
Anyway, I'll stop jabbering and get on with the reason for my visit...another Christmas card and it's a shaker card today.

Oh good grief I can see myself reflected in the acetate, so apologies for that!!
The Sassy Cheryl image, Winter was coloured with my Promarkers. The pearl board frame was experimental and actually embossed with a mask. I was really pleased with how it turned out. I also mixed up some mica powder and painted the background for a bit of shimmer, which, as is so often the case, doesn't show up in the snap. I used Glamour Dust Crytal Glitter and pearls for the shakey bit and the sentiment is from a very old stamp set of unknown origin!!

Some challenges to join in with

Just Inspirational - Frame It
(Simon and Garfunkel - A hazy shade of Winter)

Festive fabric

As well as my ribbon mountain and button collection I also have a rather large stash of fabric that I have accumulated over the years so thought it was about time I addressed the situation!!

This is the result...

a rag wreath in red and cream which suits the nordic theme I usually have in my  kitchen at Christmas.

Amazing what you can do with a polystyrene ring, a crochet hook, a pile of fabric squares and a metre of ribbon!!
I'm now working my way through a pile of green scraps, so watch this space!!

Handmade!!

I would say Good Morning but it's actually downright awful here in Dorset this morning and set to last all day according to them in the know!! Pony couldn't be persuaded to go out so she is having a duvet day!! I, on the other hand, will be at work so the weather can do what it likes!! Before that though I have a card to share for our new challenge at

and we'd like to see a handmade embellishment.

I made a net (old) type bow with a snowflake to hold on the tag which actually says "Winter Wishes". The Robin is by Digistamp Boutique and coloured with Promarkers. The papers are Krafty Christmas and the pom pom trim (also very old) came from my ribbon stash.

Some challenges I am playing along with

Snowbunny

Hello lovely people. I hope you had a good weekend.

I'm here today with my DT card for

where the theme is Festive Furry Friends...CUTE of course.

I used (one of our Sponsors)  Meljens " Snow Bunny"

...just how cute is that face? Coloured with Promarkers with a sprinkling of Glamour Dust and some Viva Decor Ice White pearl pen to finish off.

There is a story behind the sentiment. Are you sitting comfortably? Then I'll begin...

Once Upon a Time many years ago (30 to be precise...blimey, how did that happen??) a  young farmer wanted to attract the attention of a shy bank clerk and didn't know how to go about it (yeah right, he was a tinker, but for the sake of the fairy tale just go with it!!). So, as Christmas was approaching he journeyed into the local town and chose a Christmas card to send to her. On the front was a little dog looking very sad and forlorn and the sentiment said " If I followed you home this Christmas....could I stay?". The shy bank clerk and the young farmer got together at the Young Farmers' New Years Eve bash and lived Happily Ever After.

I still have that card in my memory box.....altogether now....aaaaaah!!

A challenge or two

Christmas cards all year round - No patterned paper
CHNC #202 - Keep it flat

Thanks for your continued support xx

Sunday 9 November 2014

Oh Deer

Happy Sunday folks. I've managed to grab a few minutes to share yet another Christmas card.

The super cute deer is from Whimsie Doodles and was coloured with Promarkers. The papers and sweet tag are from my Nordic Christmas pad and the ribbon from my stash.

I just couldn't resist the latest Passion for Promarkers Challenge as I am a huge Beatles fan and used "Norwegian Wood" as my inspiration.

I am also playing along with these brilliant challenges

I love Promarkers - Cute Christmas
Crafty Ribbons #106 - Christmas
Milk Coffee - A hand coloured image

Before I go I want to share another wildlife snap. This really handsome fellow was taking a power nap on my decking the other morning!! It amazes me how they stand on one leg!!

I am considering a name change to Dr Doolittle!!

Have a lovely Sunday and I hope the sun is shining on you xx

Thursday 6 November 2014

What's inside?

That's what I love about gift boxes, the mystery!!

And today our new challenge at

is to showcase your favourite kind of gift wrap, be it handmade wrapping paper, bags or boxes.

Here's my project which was made using some Foundations card

to house my little charity gift tag perfectly .

I used my CC boxer board to make the box using spotty paper for the top and the reverse (striped) for the base.

A challenge or two that are perfect for my make

Thanks for visiting, I appreciate it and love to read your comments xx

Tuesday 4 November 2014

Here comes another!!

Oh yes...another Christmas card today and a smidgen of frost this morning to go nicely too!!

All of the papers on this card are from Maja Design's Vintage Frost pad (including the rather lovely Father Christmas). I usually feel like I am cheating if I don't colour an image but I've let myself get away with it this time because I made such an effort in other ways. For instance the snowflakes were die cut, frantaged and then layered and I don't usually faff about with twine and charms but it was really nice to have a fiddle!!

I also found some challenges that don't require colouring so am going to play.

Crafty Calender Challenge - It's all about Christmas
Winter Wonderland - Pick 'n' Mix
(Brads, snowflakes and lace for me)
My Time To Craft #265 - Charmed I'm Sure

Anyway better fly, the blacksmith is coming at 8!!

Have a good one xx

Old jar, new purpose

Oh no, Monday's rolled around again so I wish you a good week whatever you are doing!!

I have a jar to share today. It came to me last Christmas filled with pear chutney and has been sat in my dresser ever since waiting for inspiration to hit me, which it did when I was deciding upon an image for one of my Cuddly Buddly DT makes for this month and this is what I did.

My buttons are joining forces with my ribbons in staging an escape from my work room so more button storage was in order!! I am so pleased with this and it looks really lovely on my shelf, I'm only sorry that I don't have more of the same jars to house my buttons (one for each colour of the rainbow would be nice!!).

My jar of buttons is off to play at these challenges

Let it snow!!

Hello my Friends, I can't believe I haven't shared anything for days!! Hope you are enjoying nice weather this weekend. It's still lovely here in Dorset, UK, if a little cooler than yesterday.

I had a rather special visitor this morning and was incredibly lucky that he stayed put until I managed to grab my camera!! We have a family of Buzzards that waddle around the paddocks but they generally don't come this close, so imagine my delight when I spotted this splendid chap outside my kitchen window this morning as I was mopping!!

Anyhow, nature lesson over and the real reason I am here!!

This is another of the fabulous "colour yourself" images from my Hobby House art book. I used my SN pencils to colour match him to my new and fabulous Doodlebug papers.

I made a centre stepper card for a change as the large image rather cried out to be centre stage. I used Glamour Dust  on the tree and a touch of faux stitching too for some interest.

I apologise for the rubbish photo and blame it entirely on the autumn watery light!!

I am taking my card to play at these fab challenges, which, as luck should have it are just right

Squirrel's World - It's Snowvember
Fab 'n' Funky #235 - Christmas
Natalie and Amy #26 - Stitch it
Moving Along With The Times - Winter is coming
Sweet Stampin' - Shaped cards

Thanks for dropping by and I promise I won't leave it too long next time xx

Creating a scene!!

Hello my crafty friends and I hope the week has started  well for you, if not, then I wish you better days to come. I have another " different" card to share today and boy did it take an age to make. I can safely say that I won't be making a habit of creating  this type of card!!

I started with my SB pierced rectangles for the frame and then made a card blank to suit.  Then had a really good sort through my "Seasonal" dies and embossing folders for inspiration. The trusty Cheery Lynn poinsettia strip had to make an appearance. The tree is by Dee's Distinctively range and the country landscape by Memory Box. A Craftwork Card's sentiment to finish off.

Here's an angled shot to show the dimension and the sheen of the Centura pearl cardstock.

Some challenges I am entering

Allsorts #282 - Christmas
Crafting When we can - Black and white
Christmas Card Challenges #48 - Anything Goes
Pile it on - Create a scene
Crafty Cardmakers #126 - Cut it out
Not just cards #5 - Anything Goes

Monday 27 October 2014

Boo!!

Hello there crafters. I have a (not so) spooky creation today for we are starting a new challenge at

and the seasonal theme is

SPOOKY

I chose to make a little goody bag should any little spooks be brave enough to venture down our lane, which in itself is spooky with bats, owls and without the luxury of streetlights!!

I used an old Pollycraft digi that I coloured with my Promarkers in suitably Hallowe'en colours. Simply matted on black and lime card and added a tag.

I've been saving it up for the current Without Words Challenge!!
and a few more besides

Open-minded crafting fun #22 - Halloween/Dressing up
Cute Card Thursday - Trick or Treat
Sweet Stampin' - Anything But A Card

Hope you will join us and remember that something on your creation needs to be older than six months.

Toodles for now xx
